Threeinstruments were used to collect data in this study. The first one was atest designed to measure participants’ proficiency in English. Itconsisted of four sections: (i) listening, (ii) reading, (iii) grammarand vocabulary, and (iv) writing. The test was administered at thebeginning of the course and, as was mentioned before, the scores wereused as the basis for grouping students into two classes. The same testwas given again at the end of the program.
